<p>For the sixth consecutive week, the retail inflation rate stayed below the six percent threshold, despite a 5.09 percent increase in the consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation rate for February. But for over a year, the inflation rate was higher than the 4 percent median comfort rate. This is a slight decline from the 5.1% reported in January.</p>

<p>Delhi had the lowest inflation rate (2.47 percent), and Haryana had the highest (7.5%) among the states in north India. It was 4.75% in Punjab, 5.32% in Himachal Pradesh, and 5.22% in the JK UT.</p>
<p>Rural regions’ 5.34 percent inflation rate remained higher than urban areas’ 4.78 percent inflation rate. Due to the high cost of fruits and vegetables, food inflation in rural regions was lower than in urban areas, at 8.21% as opposed to 9.19%, resulting in a total inflation rate of 8.66%. In the same month as the previous year, the total food inflation rate was 6.44 percent.</p>
<p>In addition to home goods and services, health care, transportation and communication, entertainment and leisure, and education, the cost of clothing and footwear was higher in rural locations. For almost the whole food and beverage category, February’s inflation rate was greater than it was in the same month the previous year.</p>
