With consecutive deliveries for four and six from Mark Wood of England, Klaasen hit his century. then let out a loud yell at the bowler who wasn’t thrilled by the ostentatious celebration.

After England faltered and was bowled out for 170 in 22 overs, Klaasen soon realized his emotional outburst and apologized to Wood.

The South African said that the emotional outburst was caused by receiving two strikes to his foot from Wood’s bowling.

Klaasen said after the game that he had said nothing to the opponent. “I went and apologized both right away and after the game. He struck me on the foot twice, which hurts a lot and is only caused by emotion. I’m terrible for him and the English lads once again, but it was simply pure emotion that poured out, and sometimes it’s hard to manage.

But I did apologize right immediately, and I talked to him after the game, so hopefully everything is resolved from my end,” he said.

Klaasen didn’t need to celebrate in Wood’s face, according to England captain Jos Buttler, who gave the batter credit for realizing his error.

Buttler said, “I think he was obviously emotional to score 100.” “I don’t believe he needed to rejoice in front of Mark Wood, and praise be to him, he acknowledged it a few seconds later and apologized. They played a beautiful knock, and I believe he immediately apologized, so there are no hard feelings.

Klaasen follows Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, and Rassie van der Dussen as the fourth South African to hit a century at the current world cup.
